New Curriculum Launch
- Hawke's Bay
- 22/06/2023
There was a great turn out to the launch of our draft education curriculum yesterday. It's a collaboration between Fish and Game, local Kura, Hapu, Iwi, Regional Council, EIT Te Pukenga to implement an educational program that fits with the national NCEA curriculum.
Our vision is to engage and foster students curiosity, awareness and understanding so they contribute actively as citizens of Aoteroa and the world, in the best interests of present and future generations.
The facilities we are developing here at the Game Farm with the additions of the new lakes and native plantings make for an excellent facility for young people to come and learn about the environment, the importance of biodiversity, clean heathy water and make cultural connections.
Our hope is that akonga will ask questions, be curious, make connections and reflect on learning. They will listen to others points of view, negotiate, respect differences, share ideas & collaborate together. They will use technologies to access and share information, be resourceful, reliable and resilient, lead, follow and act independently. And many other competencies to grow their knowledge of their natural environment.
This is a journey that we are very excited to embark on and look forward to putting these learnings into practice and developing a great program for our Tamariki.
