Our Trout Hatchery rears over 70,000 ‘fry’ (baby trout) and grows them to ‘fingerling’ size before we release them in our specially designed truck that travels around the region and all over the North Island supplying trout to other regions.

Gardens and Nature Trails

Enjoy the beautiful setting of our hatchery, with ponds, streams, open spaces for games and picnics and short nature trails. Ideal for team getaways and off site ‘refresh, reflect and recharge’ meetings and outings.

The Octagon

The Octagon is a self-contained rustic building with a wood fire, small kitchen and bathroom facilities. Ideal for those more intimate and activity-based outings, set in front of our ‘kids fishing pond’ with outside seating areas under a sail. Ideal for picnics or BBQ’s with a large flat grass area around, great for team building games and some back yard football or cricket!

Boardroom

The Board room is situated in our main office and can seat up to 20pax comfortably around an open square boardroom, or seat up to 50 pax theatre style. The boardroom has access to wifi, white board and projector, kitchen facilities and bathrooms for your convenience.

Funding

Although we are a statutory organization and we have responsibilities under the Conservation Act and Wildlife Act, Fish & Game gets no financial funding from the Government. Our main source of income is through our licence sales for freshwater angling and game bird hunters. We have about 150,000 licence holders, and nationwide Fish & Game only has about 74 staff!

We rely on additional contributions or donations to help keep our facilities maintained and free to the public. We do charge a small fee for organised groups and tours.
