Toko Reserve is a 6ha Fish & Game-owned wetland on the true right of the Tokomairiro River near Toko Mouth. The wetland is 13km from Milton, on the right-hand-side of Toko Mouth Rd.
The maimai is on the southern pond, furthest away from the road.
Access is via a private farm track. Drive uphill about 200 metres, then park off the track.
The walk to the maimai is about 500 metres.
Contour across a young pine forest, follow a track through the gully, continue across the next paddock, then the maimai is below you.
Hunting stands and permits are allocated via ballot for the first nine days of the season with preference given to junior and novice hunters. Other hunters may obtain permits to access the wetland during the rest of the season.
Pegging of hunting stands at Toko Reserve is not permitted.
The pond near the roadside seldom holds ducks and access is difficult.
