April brings a whole heap of late season fishing opportunities

There’s five weeks to hit those rivers before the end of April when they become the natural hatchery for future generations of trout.

Further south, the salmon season still runs till the end of April and word is this season has been a good one.

There’s loads of handy fishing spots close to main centres that have plenty of delicious trout and perch swimming around. With fuel prices at the point they are, the ability to harvest a fish or two locally can ease the pain on your wallet whilst giving you some quality time in the outdoors.

Most of our fisheries can sustain harvest, so next time you are out fishing, take a trout or two for dinner, make the most of this healthy food source and take some pressure off your food bill at the same time.
