Hunting & Fishing New Zealand has named this year’s five lucky game bird hunters who’ve each won one of their $299.99 Matuku hunting jackets in the Banding Together promotion.

The sponsor, Hunting & Fishing New Zealand has thanked “all hunters who took the time and effort to return the band details.”

Spokesman Andy Tannock says that as always, his company is pleased to be able to support projects where the information gathered benefits game bird management, which in turn benefits all hunters.

“Many from our team of store owners and staff are hunters ourselves, we know it’s vital to contribute to Fish & Game’s research which in the long term will help to improve our duck populations.”

Mr Tannock says if any hunters have not yet sent their band information in, “Hunting & Fishing NZ is happy to see late 2015 entries included in any 2016 draws. “The important thing is to get all band info submitted.”

Eastern Region Senior Fish & Game Officer Matthew McDougall says that Fish & Game is most grateful for the support that Hunting & Fishing NZ has thrown behind this and other initiatives.

He says that the camo’ jackets which the company has offered for two years running have provided game bird hunters with a very real incentive to send their band details in.

Mr McDougall says the banding continues to form an important component in Fish & Game’s research which has been extended significantly in recent years.
