Waewaetutuki – Junior Hunt Opportunity

As promoted in the special edition Fish & Game magazine, Eastern Region are offering junior licence holders the chance to go into a draw to win one of eight slots available to hunt in the sought after Fish & Game owned wetland in Paengaroa, Bay of Plenty.
Two well-built and maintained maimais, nestled in raupo, offer plenty of open water to shoot over. Turn up with your personal gear, callers, decoys, gun, and waders (a must have), and hopefully the ducks and weather will cooperate.
The programme is aimed strictly at junior licence holders only. The supervising adult (with firearms licence) will act as a mentor for the day’s hunt, and hopefully enjoy the outing, passing on their skills and knowledge.
Each maimai will have one hunter (and supervisor), and the wetland will only be hunted during the weekends of the mallard season – excluding Opening Weekend when the wetland is closed to all hunting. The chosen juniors will be able to hunt both Saturday and Sunday of their allocated weekend.
The weekends available are; 8-9 May, 15-16 May, 22-23 May, 29-30 May. Weekends will be allocated and are non transferable.

Please note that entries for this junior hunt close on Friday, April 23. The successful young people will be notified the following week.
