Upper Oreti Designated Waters Fishery

The Upper Oreti Designated Water Fishery is the Upper Oreti River and its tributaries upstream of the State Highway 97 bridge just north of Mossburn.

All anglers who fish the Upper Oreti Designated Water Fishery must obtain a valid Designated Waters Licence, to get your Designated Waters Licence click here.

Only current Adult whole season licence, Family licence, Loyal senior, Non-resident whole season licence and Local area licence holders are eligible to get a Designated Waters Licence.

IMG 0325aTo avoid overcrowding the fishery operates under a voluntary beat system, the Upper Oreti fishing beats are below. 

To indicate which beat you will be fishing, please park your vehicle next to the appropriate sign, an example is pictured right.

You may fish an occupied beat downstream of (behind) other anglers.

As a courtesy to fellow anglers please respect this beat system or access to this fishery may be restricted.
