Junior Hunt Opportunity – Waewaetutuki

Want to take your son or daughter, or the neighbour’s kid, to a great wetland to hunt ducks? Let us know!

We are giving junior licence holders a great opportunity – go in a draw for a chance to hunt a sought after Fish & Game owned wetland at Paengaroa in the Bay of Plenty. Two well-built maimais, fully scrubbed, nestled in raupo offer plenty of open water to shoot over. Turn up with your personal gear, callers, decoys, gun, and waders (a must have), and hopefully the ducks and weather will cooperate.

The programme is aimed strictly at junior licence holders only.  The supervising adult (with firearms licence) will act as a mentor for the day’s hunt, and hopefully enjoy the outing, passing on their skills and knowledge.

There are only 8 places available for junior hunters, as each maimai will have one hunter (and supervisor), and the wetland will only be hunted during the weekends of the mallard season – excluding Opening Weekend when the wetland is closed to all hunting. The chosen juniors will be able to hunt both Saturday and Sunday of their allocated weekend.
