Weekly Fishing Report North Canterbury 2-1-20

Happy New Year to all anglers from the Councillors and Staff at North Canterbury Fish & Game.

The dull conditions caused by the haze from the Australian bushfires made it hard for spotting fish on New Years Day but hopefully the fluctuating winds of the next few days will clear them out.

As families start to travel back from their holiday destinations or those that have done a stay-cation and stayed near to Christchurch can take advantage of some new fish releases into the Junior Fishery at the Groynes near Belfast.

The Junior fishery at the Groynes has had some nice rainbows released into it like the one on the right caught and released by Rico Taylor.

As the junior fishery is for for Child and Junior licence holders only, it offers the chance for a family outing at a great venue  nestled on the outskirts of Christchurch.

The High Country lakes also offer a great chance for a family outing, the Coleridge, Waimakariri and Sumner lake systems are within a couple of hours drive and offer plenty of opportunities.

Anglers of varying skill level are catered for, for more information click here and at the bottom of the page there are a bunch of handy PDF's full of info on the fishing opportunities in North Canterbury.

Tight lines
