Want to learn how to fish for trout, salmon and perch? Sign up for a free evening theory class on freshwater fishing, followed by a field trip to try your hand at fishing.

Otago Fish & Game is running adult beginner spin-fishing classes before the 2024/2025 fishing season. Learn about fish species, rods, lures, knots, where to go, licences, regulations and more.

Each participant will attend one evening theory class and a field trip.

• In Dunedin, there are three theory classes from 6.30pm-8.30pm on September 10, 11 and 12 (women only) at Otago Fish & Game, corner of Hanover and Harrow streets, Dunedin.
  The field trip will be from 1pm-2pm, on Saturday, September 14, at Southern Reservoir.
• In Cromwell, there is one class from 6.30pm-8.30pm on September 13, at in the Bannockburn room at Cromwell Presbyterian Church, 10 Elspeth Street, and a field trip from 8am-10am, on Saturday, September 14, at Lowburn Inlet.

Please note there will be a maximum of 12 people per evening theory class.

All fishing gear is provided but you can bring your own.

Adult beginner fishing classes are for ages 18 and above.
