Regional Manager Hawkes Bay

Fish & Game New Zealand seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to manage its Hawke’s Bay operations.

The position is Napier based and will report to the Hawke’s Bay Fish & Game Council.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, advocacy, budgeting and reporting, and management of staff.

The role will also involve a significant operational component with a strong hands-on focus.


The successful applicant must demonstrate:

  • Leadership and management ability
  • Technical competency and a sound knowledge of fish and game management principles
  • External relationship building ability
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage staff
  • A sound knowledge of the Conservation, Wildlife, Resource Management, and Health and Safety at Work Acts
  • An interest in angling and/or hunting

A qualification in natural or environmental sciences would be beneficial and a good working knowledge of the Hawke’s Bay region is desirable.
