Reel Life October 2021

The 2021/22 fishing season is only a week away, and your fishing licence is your ticket to adventure and opens a world of opportunities for you and your family.

This season will be an excellent opportunity to get out and stretch the legs after being in lockdown.

It's time to explore new areas and maybe even challenge yourself with new methods and daylight savings arriving Sunday 26th of September; the additional daylight will allow more productive fishing in the evening period.

The 2021/22 season brings in some new regulations; if you didn't receive a regulations booklet when purchasing your licence, you can download an online version here.

The Christchurch City Council have announced they will be opening the mouth of Lake Forsyth/Wairewa to lower the lake level.

Contractors will begin work on the 16th of September, planning to have the outlet open on the 17th.

The outflow of the lake water provides a much-improved attractant for whitebait and smelt to enter the lake from coastal areas.

Which should improve the trout and perch fishing opportunities for a period after the opening.
