WHITIANGA HARBOUR
Upper harbour in tidal channels, mudflats and mangroves provides good hunting if care is taken in positioning of maimai.
Boat ramps at:
- Robinsons Road
Concrete boat ramp midway along Robinsons Road. - Whitianga Wharf
Good concrete boat ramp - Te Kauanga Road (3km on Tairua side of Coroglen)
Limited parking available - Kapowai and Waiwawa Rivers
Access direct from road, however on Kapowai landowner consent required. Alternative access via direct contact with landowners.
WHANGAPOUA HARBOUR
Large area with few shooters due to its isolation.
Boat ramps at: - Wharf at Matarangi Beach
Good ramp available. - Wharf at Whangapoua
Or via direct contact with landowners.
TAIRUA HARBOUR
Upper harbour and river provide hunting opportunities. - Tairua
Off SH25 at several points between Pauanui turn-off and Tairua. Note concentrations of Paradise Shelduck in area.
