Know the game, know the gun - different game and different hunting styles require different arms and ammunition.

Additionally, you'll want to include supplementary gear like covers, camo and calls to up your chances of a smooth and succesful hunt. 

Selecting your shotgun

Most moderately priced shotguns will last a lifetime if well looked after. The most common shotgun calibre is 12 gauge (and 12 gauge ammunition in less expensive than other gauge ammo).
