Recent deluges have failed to put a dampener on what has been an excellent start to the season in the lower North Island, particularly the easily accessible lowland fisheries.
And while the rain has occasionally hampered getting out on the water, the upshot is that it has set the rivers up really well for when the inevitable dry summer conditions kick in.
