Northland Reel Life December 2018
If you're visiting the Northland region, or simply a local looking for some different places to fish, you'll find our Fishing Locations and Access pages a ‘must read.’
Right: Anyone can spin fish...
The region offers everything from lake and reservoir to clear bush rivers and kilometres of farmland fishing.
The Northland fishery caters for everyone’s taste, ability, and technique with plenty of accessible water.
Landowners are usually obliging and access to angling spots is generally good, but please check with them for permission to enter their land.
The famous Kai Iwi Lakes near Dargaville, and the man-made reservoirs in Whangarei and Kerikeri provide some great options for anglers.
On the Northland Locations and Access pages you will find downloadable brochures with loads of information and maps on Kai Iwi Lakes and rivers including the Kerikeri and Manuwai.

If for some reason you haven't bought a licence yet, there are plenty of options for holidaymakers, such as the Short Break and Long Break ones, which offer three days or nine days worth of fishing.
If you're a local you'll find there are plenty of options too.
