Otago Fish & Game Officer vacancy
Otago Fish & Game Council is the not-for-profit agency responsible for the management of sports fish (trout & salmon) and game birds (primarily waterfowl) and their habitats, in the recreational interests of anglers and hunters. We have been doing that for over 100 years.
As a Dunedin-based Fish & Game Officer, you will be working as part of a small, dedicated team undertaking a surprisingly diverse range of duties so that no two days will be alike.
The primary focus of the position will be to lead the Council's marketing and communications effort. This includes stakeholder and licenceholder engagement, liaison with landowners, user groups and the wider community.
Office work will include media releases and social media updates, data analysis and report writing to inform licenceholders and support Fish & Game's advocacy for protection of habitat.
We won’t keep you inside all week – you’ll also be invited to support field work, such as sports fish and game bird surveys and compliance activities.
The successful applicant is likely to have a relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, science communication or journalism. Applicants with relevant experience will also be considered, especially if they have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ideally, you will be an enthusiastic angler and/or game bird hunter who is keen on promoting the sport to future generations.
