Event Description: The 2020 Canterbury Trout Fishing Festival is co-hosted by the Canterbury Flyfishing Club and North Canterbury Fish & Game.
This educational and inspirational event is free for all current Fish & Game fishing licence holders but is primarily intended to help adult and junior anglers, from the age of 12 and up.
Please note that guest speaker presentations and on water workshops in this event are focused on demonstrating and teaching participants new fishing techniques and tactics. Hence, unlike the TAKF day NO actual fishing opportunities will be available nor has any stocking of hatchery fish into the Groynes Fishing Lakes occurred.
Morning session (9am-12 at the Peppers Clearwater Resort Conference Room) will feature presentation from expert anglers. They will cover the use of modern tools and techniques, like two handed flyrods / Trout Spey tactics and soft baiting secrets in lakes and rivers, all aimed at helping you to maximise your chances of finding and catching more fish!
The trout festival will have heaps of info for both spin and fly anglers.
Afternoon session (1-3pm at the Groynes Fishing Lakes) will provide you an opportunity to meet with expert casting instructors and fishing guides who will hold multiple demonstrations , and better master fly-fishing and casting under difficult conditions. The demonstrations will take place at the Groynes fishing lakes – within easy walking distance from the Peppers Clearwater Resort
Lunch / Refreshments: A Gold Coin donation for a BBQ lunch put on by the Canterbury Flyfishing Club will be available by the Groynes Fishing Lakes. If you are after something more substantial, The Peppers Clearwater Resort operates a restaurant, The Lakes..
The Canterbury Flyfishing Club will also operate a Coffee Cart during the afternoon until the prize draw is held by the Fish & Game tent at the Groynes Fishing Lakes at 3pm. An announcement via loud speaker will be made to alert attendees.
To end the days celebration spot prizes kindly donated by our sponsors will be drawn from registration entries at 3 pm.
