Opening of the 2020 Eastern Region game bird season

Cabin fever got the better of you?  Ready for some time in the outdoors? 

The 2020 game bird season will kick off on the 23rd of May so time to dust off those decoys and make some plans. 

I hope you have kept your fitness up over the lock down as the pheasant and quail season are looking good.

Not too sure how the duck season is going to pan out though. 

It could be a bit tough for many hunters.  But those with good water may do really well. 

This drought has been tough on the farmers as well as the ducks. 

The season length for ducks is the same as before the announcement of Covid-19.

Swan, pukeko and upland game seasons are finishing on the same dates as normal so they will have a slightly shorter season this year, but check the regulation guide for the special seasons for pukeko and black swan.
