Participating anglers must have entered prior to the event’s commencement. Entries close at midnight on 30 September 2018. Participants must hold a 2018-19 New Zealand Fish & Game Fishing Licence. Participants must complete the on-line entry accurately and in full.
The times and dates for the promotion are legal fishing hours between 1 and 14 October 2018 inclusive, only. Tagged trout caught outside this period will not be eligible for any prizes. Fish & Game Eastern Region’s ‘standard’ yellow-coloured Datawatch tags are not part of this promotion, and are not eligible for prizes in the Fish for Gold promotion, nor are any other tags currently being used for research, monitoring, or previous Fish for Gold promotions. Fish for Gold 2018 tags are orange in colour and feature the words “Promotion” and “2018” along with some other wording, and a number.
Tags must be presented in person to staff at Fish & Game Eastern Region’s office at 1130 Paradise Valley Road, Ngongotaha during office hours (Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm), or to Fish & Game field staff present at the lakes or lake-side weigh stations at any time as soon as possible after being caught. Fish for Gold orange tags caught after midnight on 14 October 2018 or presented after 1.00pm, Monday 15 October 2018 will not be eligible for prizes. In the event that participants are unable to locate Fish & Game staff or make it to the Fish & Game office, they should phone Fish & Game Eastern Region as soon as possible and advise that a tagged trout has been caught, providing specific details of the catch, and the tag. All tags must be presented before 1.00pm Monday 15 October 2018. Tags will be verified for authenticity by Fish & Game prior to prizes being awarded. Where possible anglers should provide their catch fully intact with tag in place, or photographic evidence of the fish with its tag in place.
The promotion involves the tag and release of 30 rainbow trout with specially marked orange tags which are individually marked and numbered. Ten trout will be released into each of the following lakes prior to the promotion’s commencement: Rotoiti, Okataina and Tarawera. A total of 30 tags will be released. Each numbered tag corresponds to a sealed, numbered envelope containing a prize. One of the envelopes contains a prize of $10,000, and another a prize of an outboard motor valued at $945. The remaining 28 envelopes contain either a voucher or tackle valued at $250.
The prizes are not transferable for cash, credit, or other goods or services offered by the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without prior notice.
The Promoter’s decision in respect of all matters related to the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
