Fishing Clubs

Fishing clubs are a great way for anglers of all ages, and newbie or experienced anglers to socialise and share their knowledge and enthusiasm for recreational fishing.

Fishing clubs welcome new members and encourage prospective members to get involved to see what the clubs are about.

Besides the social and knowledge sharing aspects of the clubs they offer many benefits like: the use of club huts, club trips, tackle/fly tying nights, competitions and guest speaker presentations.

Volunteer Hatcheries

Two volunteer run salmon hatcheries operate within the Central South Island Region. The main goal of the hatcheries is to supplement wild sea-run salmon runs with hatchery reared stock. The hatchery teams rely heavily on the involvement of anglers to assist with both day to day tasks and with ‘working bee’ days like fin clipping, hatchery maintenance and improvements, or environmental enhancement projects. If you would like to get involved don’t hesitate to get in touch with the hatchery teams.
