Update 25 January 2018

 We can now report these lakes have been given the all clear:

Update 10 January 2018

Unfortunately there is still no progress from the MPI lab on the fish testing, they are overwhelmed with the Mycoplasma Bovis testing and we are unlikely to hear anything this week.

This means the affected lakes are still closed to fishing.

Update 5 December 2017

Today North Canterbury Fish & Game closed the surrounding lakes; Hawdon, MaryMere, Pearson and Lyndon to fishing as a precaution while we wait for the results of testing from the Ministry for Primary Industries lab in Wallaceville.

 

Update 4 December 2017:

Following the discovery of trout with a red rash last week, North Canterbury Fish & Game has acted to protect its hatcheries from any potential threat. 

A full bio-security plan for the Montrose & Isaacs Hatcheries is now in place and no visitors will be permitted at either site for the time being.

North Canterbury Fish & Game has also decided to postpone the Lake Lyndon Fishing Competition scheduled for Sunday December 10.

There will also be no fish movements within the region while investigations continue.  This means there will be no further stocking of Christchurch’s Groynes Childrens’ fishing lakes
