Welcome
Seven lakes within an hour’s drive of Auckland City are regularly stocked with trout, and wild trout are abundant in the Mangatawhiri and Mangatangi reservoirs. There is also good trout fishing in the Coromandel ranges.
The Waikato-Hauraki area is also known as the country's ‘duck factory.’ Those living in the region have ready access to the best waterfowl hunting in the country – most of it within an hour’s drive of Auckland city.
Hunting areas include public land and major areas of wetland owned by the Crown and Fish & Game that are readily accessible via roads, walkways and boat ramps.
