Eastern Rivers and Waikaremoana May 18th
By Murray Ferris
A tad tedious I know but really nothing has changed on the freshwater fishing scene for weeks and weeks and looking ahead I can't see any reason to get excited about it changing any time soon.
All the rivers are very very low, still some weed creating grief for nymph fishers. The good news on the North Island fishing scene is that there has recently been a survey of our rivers and that survey has produced no evidence of didymo. That is tremendous news but we cannot afford to drop our guard; as the major peak fishing season is over, it will give us a little breathing space.
All the rivers are low and clear and lake Waikaremoana is producing fish in good order but small in stature. No recent reports from Tuai or Kents so it's very much a suck it and see exercise there.
Remember clean treat and dry - prevent the spread of didymo
